We’re excited to announce the launch of proVconnect‘s latest version, 2.31. Below, we’ve outlined these additions to give you a comprehensive overview of what’s included in this update.

Display Information on the Task Publisher

In many enterprise systems, tasks are generated by various sources, including automated systems, scheduled jobs, or manual user inputs. Understanding the origin of a task is crucial for users and administrators to:

  • Verify the legitimacy of the task.
  • Diagnose issues related to task execution.
  • Ensure compliance and track responsibilities.

However, without clear information about who or what created the task, users can struggle to identify its purpose, leading to confusion and potential delays in addressing the task.

Feature Overview

This feature enhances the task management view by displaying detailed information about the publisher (creator) of a task. The publisher information can now include:

  1. Publisher Name: The name of the user, automated script, or system process that created the task.
  2. Publisher Type: The type of publisher, such as:
    • User: A manually created task by an authenticated user.
    • System: A task created automatically by the application (e.g., a scheduled report or maintenance task).

Dashboard filtering by Breadcrumbs Trail

Dashboards provide users with a quick, at-a-glance view of key data and insights. However, as the volume of data increases, it becomes challenging to quickly find the relevant information. Users often need to navigate through large datasets, which can be overwhelming without effective filtering options. The previous dashboard lacked advanced filtering mechanisms, making it harder for users to drill down into specific sections of data, particularly when working with complex, multi-level data structures.

Feature Overview

This feature introduces dashboard filtering by breadcrumb trail, enabling users to seamlessly navigate and filter data based on hierarchical context. The breadcrumb trail acts as a navigation aid, displaying the user’s current location within a hierarchy and providing filtering options based on this context.

Key Enhancements:

  1. Breadcrumb Trail Display: The breadcrumb trail is now displayed at the top of the dashboard, showing the path of navigation through hierarchical data (e.g., Home > Region > Country > Department).
  2. Contextual Filtering: Users can click on any level of the breadcrumb trail to apply a filter that narrows down the dashboard view based on the selected context.
  3. Improved Data Drill-Down: The breadcrumb trail allows users to drill down into deeper levels (upto the device level) of data or step back to a broader view without losing their current context.

Introduction to Quick Reports

Quick Reports are pre-defined, on-demand reports accessible directly from the Reports menu. These reports provide immediate insights and generate a CSV export for further analysis. The current selection includes essential reports such as a listing of local admins, USB port permissions, and online device status. Over time, more reports will be added to expand the available insights and data coverage.

Feature Overview

  • Pre-Defined Reports: Quick Reports are designed to provide instant access to frequently needed data without manual setup.
  • CSV Export: Each Quick Report generates a downloadable CSV file, making it easy for users to analyze data externally or share with stakeholders.
  • Expanded Selection: New reports will be added regularly, offering users a growing set of predefined analytics for deeper insights.
  • Consistency Across Contexts: Quick Reports respect the current context set in the dashboard view, aligning with any applied filters for accurate and targeted reporting.

This feature streamlines data access and helps users quickly obtain critical information without extensive configuration or setup.

Improvement on the GLPI Integration

A new GLPI plugin has been developed to enhance the integration with proVconnect. Previously, the link to proVconnect was included within the comment field of GLPI items, which made it difficult to access and maintain. With this update:

  • The proVconnect link is now displayed as a dedicated external link in the GLPI interface, improving visibility and ease of access.
  • This change eliminates the need for users to search through the comment field, streamlining the workflow and reducing the risk of missing important information.
  • The GLPI plugin provides a more structured and standardized approach, ensuring consistent access to proV features directly from relevant GLPI records.

This enhancement improves usability, makes navigation more intuitive, and aligns the integration with best practices for user interface design.
